Syston RFC was formed in 1887 by players who lived locally or attended nearby Barrow Grammar School.

The club's first real home was on the Fosse Way in Syston.

In 1989 Syston RFC moved the short distance from Fosse Way to its current Barkby Road ground in Queniborough Leicestershire.

Syston has won the Leicestershire County Cup nine times in 1912 1986 1990 1993 1995 1997 2010 2018 and 2019.

The club has won the Midlands 1 East championship four times in 1990/91 2010/11 2014/15 and 2019/20.

Won the Regional 1 Midlands title in 2024-25 earning a first ever promotion to National League 2 West.

Were the first side relegated from the 2025-26 NL2 West confirmed on 21 March 2026 with three games left after a 54-22 defeat away to Hornets.
