Club history
Chester RUFC was formed in 1925 at the Chester YMCA after an earlier 1880s club had disbanded.
A rugby fixture between Chester and New Brighton is recorded as having taken place in the 1879 to 1880 season before the original club folded.
In 1932 the club moved to rented facilities at Boughton Hall as tenants of the cricket club.
The current Hare Lane ground at Vicars Cross was purchased and occupied by the club in 1961.
Chester won the Cheshire Cup in 2004 after a new clubhouse was built in 1994.
Recent seasons
Finished 7th in National League 2 North in 2024-25 with 30 points.
Were level-transferred from National League 2 North to National League 2 West for 2025-26.
Jan Van Deventer continues as head coach of the 1st XV at the club's Hare Lane ground.
