Club history
The present Plymouth Albion was founded in 1920 through the merger of Plymouth RFC and Devonport Albion RFC both of which had been founded in 1876.
The merger followed World War One after both clubs struggled to reform and Devonport's Rectory ground was sold to the Admiralty.
Albion played their last match at Beacon Park on 26 April 2003 before moving to The Brickfields where they opened with a fixture against Otley on 13 September.
The club spent thirteen consecutive seasons in the second tier before finishing last in the 2014-15 RFU Championship and being relegated.
Former Exeter Chiefs lock Damian Welch took over as head coach charged with returning Albion to the Championship before departing by mutual agreement in December 2022.
