Club history
Doncaster Rugby Football Club was founded in 1875 and even spent a period as a Northern Union club at the turn of the 20th century.
The club moved to its current Castle Park home on Armthorpe Road in the early 1950s after three decades sharing a ground with Doncaster Cricket Club.
Doncaster reached the Championship play-off final in 2015-16 losing on aggregate to Bristol 60-25 over two legs.
The Knights have been billed as the most-promoted side in English rugby having earned eight promotions across 15 seasons of league play.
Recent seasons
Doncaster finished 6th in the 2023-24 RFU Championship.
Doncaster finished 3rd in the 2024-25 RFU Championship behind Ealing and Bedford.
Steve Boden quit as director of rugby around February 2024 citing disillusionment with the politics of the game.
In March 2025 the RFU confirmed Doncaster were the only Championship club eligible for promotion to the Premiership after passing the Minimum Standards Criteria audit at Castle Park.
