Gloucester was formed in 1873 after a meeting at the Spread Eagle Hotel in the city.

The club has played at Kingsholm Stadium since 1891 after purchasing the Castle Grim Estate land for £4000.

The standing terrace known as the Shed earned its nickname in the 1950s for its low tin roof that amplifies the home crowd.

Gloucester have won the European Challenge Cup twice - in 2005-06 and 2014-15.
