Jonny Wilkinson spent his entire English club career with Newcastle from 1997 to 2009.

Red Bull completed its takeover of the club on 12 August 2025 and rebranded the side from Newcastle Falcons to Newcastle Red Bulls.

The club has remained at its Kingston Park home ground throughout the rebrand under director of rugby Steve Diamond.
