Club history
Hartpury College Rugby Academy was formed in September 2000 in partnership with Gloucester Rugby and a senior Saturday side known as Hartpury College RFC was added in 2004.
Starting in the eleventh tier of the league pyramid Hartpury went on an unbroken run of league wins until losing to Thornbury in 2009.
In the 2016-17 season Hartpury won National League 1 with a perfect 30-from-30 record earning a first-ever promotion to the Championship.
Alumni who came through Hartpury before international honours include Jonny May Ellis Genge Louis Rees-Zammit and Italy back-rower Sebastian Negri.
Recent seasons
Hartpury finished 5th in the 2023-24 RFU Championship.
Hartpury finished 6th in the 2024-25 RFU Championship.
Mark Cornwell continued as head coach through both campaigns.
Hartpury College alumnus Louis Rees-Zammit left Gloucester in January 2024 to join the NFL International Player Pathway then returned to rugby in July 2025 by signing for Bristol Bears.
