Club history

Lichfield Ladies was founded in 1992 as the women's section of Lichfield RUFC in Staffordshire.

The club reached the Women's Premiership after three successive promotions and was a top-flight side for more than fifteen seasons.

Lichfield finished as runners-up in the 2016/17 Women's Premiership - their highest league finish - only to be controversially excluded from the new RFU Premier 15s in summer 2017.

Lichfield Ladies developed an extraordinary roll-call of England Red Roses including Sarah Hunter Emily Scarratt Zoe Aldcroft Natasha Hunt Amy Cokayne Vicky Fleetwood Tamara Taylor and Harriet Millar-Mills.

In 2025 Leicester Tigers announced a partnership with Lichfield to form a new women's rugby side built on the Lichfield Ladies programme.

Recent seasons

Launched a partnership with Leicester Tigers on 15 July 2021 forming Lichfield Leicester Tigers with matches split between Welford Road and Cooke Fields.

Operate as the pathway team feeding into Premiership Women's Rugby side Leicester Tigers Women.

Fraser Goatcher served as Lichfield Women's Head Coach for three seasons and was appointed Leicester Senior Women's XV Head Coach in 2024.

Sit 4th in Women's Championship 1 North in 2025-26 with 54 points.
