Club history
The club was founded in 1924 as Old Redingensians by former pupils of Reading School with a first match win of 26-8 away to Newbury Grammar School on 4 October.
The first England rugby captain FH Stokes opened the club's Emmer Green ground on 1 October 1927.
Future RFU president Dennis Easby was instrumental in the purchase of the present Old Bath Road site in Sonning after Reading Borough Council bought Emmer Green for development in 1948.
The club dropped its Old Redingensians name to become open in 1968 then rebranded simply as Rams for the 2018-19 season with the ram reflecting Reading's coat of arms.
Rams won the National League 2 South title with their 26th win of the season away to Clifton on 6 April 2019 to seal promotion to the third tier for the first time.
